    Where independence begins.

In the Toddler community, very young children discover they are capable. With gentle guidance and a carefully prepared environment, they learn to do real things for themselves — and love it.

A Countryside toddler working with a Montessori dressing frame

Toddlers are driven to do it themselves. Countryside gives that drive somewhere to go.

Our Toddler environment is calm, orderly, and scaled to small hands and short legs. Trained guides follow each child closely, offering just enough help and never too much, so children build confidence, coordination, and language during the years when the foundation is laid.

    Two Languages from the Start

In our Toddler classrooms, children hear two languages every day. One teacher speaks primarily Spanish and the other primarily English — a gentle, immersive introduction to a second language during the years language grows fastest.

    In the Toddler Community

What the day is built around.

    Practical Life

Pouring, dressing, cleaning, caring for the room — purposeful work that builds independence and focus.

    Language

Rich conversation, songs, and real vocabulary — in both English and Spanish — during the years language grows fastest.

    Movement & Coordination

Refining balance, grip, and control of movement through meaningful, hands-on activity.

    The Path Continues

    Next comes Primary.

After the Toddler years, children step into the Primary community — the heart of Montessori, for ages three to six.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What age is the Toddler program for?
The Montessori Toddler community serves children from about 16 months to 3 years — walking, curious little ones ready for a gentle, prepared environment away from home.
Does my child need to be potty-trained to start?
No. Toilet learning is part of what we support at this age, in partnership with families, so children are welcome before they are fully trained.
What do toddlers do all day?
Toddlers practice real, purposeful activities — pouring, dressing, caring for plants, language, and movement — that build independence, coordination, and confidence at their own pace.
How does the Toddler program prepare my child for Primary?
By age 3, children have developed the independence, concentration, and language that let them step smoothly into the Primary classroom ready to flourish.
